Shawn Anthony Robinson returns to campus as ‘Dr. Dyslexia Dude’
The Phoenix Bookstore and Office of Student Life will be hosting a reading and book signing by former UW-Green Bay employee Shawn Robinson, Ph.D., for his book “Dr. Dyslexia Dude” at 6 p.m. April 2, 2019 in The Phoenix Bookstore. Robinson worked at UW-Green Bay for a number of years and mentored many students in the Green Bay Area Public Schools.
“‘Doctor Dyslexia Dude’ is a compelling story of an African-American boy who is also a colorful superhero with dyslexia. The capped character is autobiographically based on the painful, early life experiences of Robinson. Robinson and his co-author, Inshirah Robinson R.N., are parents who say their goal is to empower students in special education to stay encouraged and know they too can achieve greatness! These stories are designed to open the mind of young students with dyslexia to the possibilities life offers – all while living worthwhile, productive and successful live. Overall, ‘Dr. Dyslexia Dude’ is and exciting, colorful, often humorous and relevant source of hope and inspiration for kids, parents, and teachers.”
Robinson is a senior research associate in the Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB) at UW-Madison. The author and dyslexia consultant, serves on the board of directors with the International Dyslexia Association. He has been invited to collaborate with some of the most respected scholars in the field of reading at the Integrative Learning Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in June 2019.
