Green Bay men’s basketball steals one from IUPUI in rare weekday morning game

A win is a win, but Green Bay’s 91-85 win at IUPUI on Thursday morning means a little bit more. Snapping a six-game losing skid to the Jaguars (6-19, 2-10 HL) and earning its first win over them since they joined the Horizon League, the Phoenix (12-13, 7-5 HL) blew the game open in the first half before holding off a late rally at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Playing the visitor role on IUPUI’s “Readers are Leaders” day with over 2,000 local elementary students in attendance, GB led by as many as 25 points in the first half before taking a 20-point lead into the break. Five players finished in double-figures, led by freshman Amari Davis’ 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting. GB has now won its last two games, and moves to 7-5 in the Horizon League before visiting UIC on Saturday afternoon. GB had not won at IUPUI since 1977.
