“Coming into her freshman season at UW-Green Bay, Kayla Schwebke had tempered expectations. The four-year standout at Laconia High School figured she would be eased in a bit to the college game and hoped that over the course of her first season with the Phoenix, she would work her way into some consistent innings. That simply has not happened. Instead, the freshman has become the lead hurler on the Phoenix’s pitching staff and has helped UWGB into a tie for third place in the Horizon League.
