Snapshots capture Packers spirit at UW-Green Bay

From the semi-academic (a Cofrin Library display of football-related artifacts) to the slightly weird (the Nursing program’s Packers-attired skeleton), fans at UW-Green Bay are showing their colors as the Super Bowl approaches. Cheesehead hats, office “shrines” and even a Green-and-Gold themed tree weren’t hard to find Tuesday, with the game still five days away.

Green Bay Packers cheerleaders posed recently after a Packers pep rally in downtown Green Bay.  Students from UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College make up the Lambeau Field spirit squads.Steelers colors: A very loyal Troy Polamalu fan, a student worker on the library's eighth floor, pulled her favorite No. 43 jersey out of the closet this week to further fuel Super Bowl fever.Packers caps, jackets and shirts are never hard to find on campus.'The Nursing Skeleton,' normally and previously a dignified teaching device, is decked out in Packers gear as the Super Bowl approaches. It's on display at the Professional Program in Nursing suite on the third floor of Rose Hall.Not to be outdone by their neighbors in the Nursing program, the social-work training staff with the NEW Partnership for Children and Families has decorated their Christmas tree with Packers memorabilia. Their office is on the third floor of Rose Hall.Chris Sampson in the Marketing and University Communication suite has an office wall devoted to Packers history: a fight-song poster, a framed photograph of Vince Lombardi, and a family photo from the 1960s Packers press box.A typical scene from a typical office.A Packers-themed display is ready for viewing outside the Area Research Center on the seventh floor of the Cofrin Library. The display spotlights historic photos and various items from the Library's collections including a number of Packers-related editorial cartoons by cartoonist Lyle Lahey archived at UW-Green Bay .
