Also new for fall: a new look for Library’s third floor

Check out the revamped third floor of the David A. Cofrin Library. The tall black shelves have been replaced by shorter stacks that have the effect of “opening up” the floor and making it seem larger and more inviting. New Library Director Paula Ganyard recently told the Friends of the Cofrin Library board about the benefits of a long-overdue “weeding” of the reference collection. The old stuff wasn’t thrown away, of course: some reference works are now part of the general collection; other, outdated items have been moved into deep storage; and the old index collection (long-since digitized) no longer occupies prime real estate. Improved study areas and work space were also part of the third-floor transformation.
