Scholar from Scotland greets UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College
GREEN BAY –The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is proud to host the international visiting scholar from Scotland, Dr. Neil McGarvey, Monday through Friday, April 11 to 15. McGarvey will conduct several classroom visits, present two guest-lectures, and meet and greet with professors. He will tour UWGB and St. Norbert College campuses and classrooms, and visit Brillion High School during the week.
Three of his lectures are free and open to the public.
At UW-Green Bay:
Global Studies Round Table Discussion — “Scotland and the United Kingdom: Devolution and Independence,” from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 in the 1965 Room, University Union.
Presentation — “Ever Looser Union: Scotland, United Kingdom, and the European Union,” 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, Christie Theatre, University Union.
At St. Norbert College:
Presentation — “Ever Looser Union: Scotland, United Kingdom, and the European Union,” 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, Bemis Center (Dining Room).
McGarvey is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Government and Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. His area of expertise is European Politics, Scottish Politics, immigration and public policy. He has had works published in British Journal of Politics and International Relations, British Journal of Social Work, Scottish Educational Review, Public Money and Management, Public Policy and Administration among others.
His visit is sponsored by the International Visiting Scholar Program with some funding provided by the Ariens Foundation. This program is a joint initiative between UWGB and SNC to bring well-qualified professionals from other countries to lecture and teach on the two campuses, and to provide educational benefits to the citizens of Green Bay and surrounding communities.
