‘Out of the Closet and Into Power’
The Pride Center is showing the film “Breaking Through Out of the Closet and Into the Halls of Power” Wednesday (Oct. 22) in the Christie Theatre at 5 p.m. The award-winning film includes interviews with openly LGBT elected officials, both Democrat and Republican including Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, and how they moved past feelings of self-doubt to enter public service. The film is not so much about politics as the intersectionality of race and LGBT, individual growth and the importance of role models. The video is approximately 85 minutes long, and there will be a short discussion following the movie. Stacie Christian of the Pride Center calls the free screening a great opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the public. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIM-RuujPDg
