Scott’s heroics propel UW-Green Bay tennis to NCAAs
It came down to the last match of a sunny, windy afternoon Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich. Sophomore Howard Scott of Exeter, England refused to give up and in the end that attitude propelled No. 1 Green Bay (18-7) to the title at the 2014 Horizon League Men’s Tennis Championship. Scott rallied from down 5-1 in the final set to post a 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles and secure a 4-3 victory for the Phoenix over No. 2 Cleveland State. With the victory, head coach Mark Thomas and Green Bay earned the automatic berth into the 2014 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship for the second time in the past three seasons.
