Passing of former music professor Jerry Abraham
Services are Tuesday in Allouez for longtime UW-Green Bay Music faculty member Jerome B. (Jerry) Abraham. He died last week at age 82 after a long illness. Abraham served in the U.S. Army in post-war Germany and returned to earn bachelor’ and master’s of music degrees at UW-Madison before teaching band and choir in the Dodgeville (Wis.) public schools. He joined the new UW-Green Bay as one of the founding members of the Music faculty, and he also founded and directed the UW-Green Bay summer music camps program. He had a 28-year career with the University. An accomplished trombonist, he played with various bands and orchestras over the years. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, and daughters Robin and Melody. Visitation is Tuesday (April 29) from 9 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Jerome Abraham’s name for scholarships at UW-Green Bay. Read the full obituary.
