Reminder: Organ virtuoso to play Weidner’s 3,702-pipe Casavant

When the Wood and Baer families made their contributions to install a world-class Casavant pipe organ at the Weidner Center in 1993, it was done for days such as these. On Friday night, (April 11), Grammy-winning organist Paul Jacobs will present a full concert on the Wood Family Organ, which has three manuals, 44 stops and 68 ranks of 3,702 pipes. He’ll play music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, John Stanley, Alexandre Guilmant, Nadia Boulanger and Mozart. In a Press-Gazette preview, Jacobs said he considered the Wood organ “an old friend.”
