Next NAS Seminar is Friday, with ‘Energy Options for Cleaner Air’
The next installment of the Natural and Applied Sciences Seminar Series is this Friday (Nov. 8) on the topic “Energy Options for Cleaner Air.” The guest speaker is Tracey Holloway, an associate professor with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at UW-Madison. Holloway notes that as Americans move toward renewable, domestic energy resources, one of the most direct environmental benefits is clean air. She and her research group examine ground‐level ozone and particulate matter, from emission sources to chemistry and meteorology. Using advanced computer models, satellite data, and ground‐based measurements, she works to evaluate the air quality and public health impacts of energy conservation, renewable electricity, and transportation alternatives. Friday’s events begin with a social at 3 p.m. in Room 317 of the Environmental Sciences Building, followed by Holloway’s lecture at 3:30 p.m. in ES 301.
