UW-Green Bay teams make it to finish line of Fall 50

One team of husbands and one team of wives — which included a total of six UWGB faculty members — raced in the Door County Fall 50 on Saturday, Oct. 26. The five women of team “Moxie,” including Profs. Jennifer Mokren and Rebecca Meacham, finished the 50-mile course in 9 hours and 42 minutes. The five men of relay team “Combo Geek Package,” including Profs. Regan Gurung, Ryan Martin, Adolfo Garcia and Chuck Rybak, finished the course in 7 hours and 27 minutes.

The UW-Green Bay contingent is pictured above at the finish line at Sturgeon Bay’s Sunset Park. The course route for the Fall 50 begins at the northernmost tip of the peninsula and travels down the western shoreline along  back roads to the city of Sturgeon Bay. Participants in the event include both dedicated ultra-marathon athletes, who run all 50 miles solo, and the relay teams. The top soloists this year were and Mark Thompson in 5:55:44 and Carolyn Smith in 6:29:36.
