In the media: Students, faculty weigh in on gay marriage debate at SCOTUS
The Supreme Court of the United States this week has turned its attention to the hot-button issue of same-sex marriage, and local news media have been exploring attitudes and perceptions here in Northeastern Wisconsin. WBAY, Channel 2, came to campus Tuesday (March 26) to speak with students and faculty about the happenings in Washington. Social Work Chair Jolanda Sallmann told Channel 2’s Jennifer Wilson that the same-sex marriage debate is the modern-day equivalent of civil rights legislation, and issues such as benefits, inheritance and child-rearing all are influenced by the right to marry legally.
