Webmasters! UW-Green Bay hosts spider specialists
UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin Center for Biodiversity was honored to host the 36th annual meeting of the American Arachnological Society July 20-24.
More than 100 of the foremost arachnologists in the country gathered for the academic conference. They were greeted by Chancellor Thomas K. Harden, Prof. Robert Howe and associate director Vicki Medland of the biodiversity center and Prof. Michael Draney, UW-Green Bay’s resident “spider man.”
A highlight was a community open house on Sunday night. The event had some fun with spider-related pop culture displays, hands-on activities for kids led by Matt Welter of the Neville Public Museum, and a slideshow including rare and exotic spider species.
