Alumni rising: Outing ‘drives’ student scholarships
It’s a tradition that dates back 32 years, and as promised, golfers who spent a day in support of scholarships at the annual UW-Green Bay Alumni Association Scholarship Golf Outing, Friday, June 8, were treated to beautiful weather, a well-groomed course, great camaraderie and fun prizes from many loyal sponsors. Claiming the outing’s top prizes were Vince Schamber ’00, Roger Myers ‘95, Tom Lemirand and Matt Carlson ‘99 for top net score, and Allan Lutterman ‘88, Jeff Scherer, Steve Gauger and Steve Lind for top gross score. More than 70 golfers participated in the outing held at Royal Scot Golf Club in New Franken.
Of course the real winners are the UW-Green Bay current and future students, who benefit from the scholarship dollars raised each year in the Association’s largest fundraising event.
Thanks to the hole and tee sponsors: Humana, Maple Valley Mutual Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual, Baker Tilly, UW Credit Union, Ken and Paula Fleurant, Mackinaw’s, Green Bay Packers, Wipfli LLP, Pomp’s Tire Service and BMO Harris Bank. Many other companies and organizations donated raffle items and other prizes, including the host course, Royal Scot Golf Club.
