Book discussion: Rana Husseini’s 'Murder in the Name of Honor'

Registration opens next Thursday for a book discussion from 5 to 7 p.m. March 27 in the Union’s 1965 Room. Prof. Heidi Sherman, Humanistic Studies, will facilitate discussion of Murder in the Name of Honor, the acclaimed work by Jordanian journalist Rana Husseini. Disturbingly common in traditional societies and also some immigrant communities in the United States, honor killings involve a punishment — often death or disfigurement —  inflicted by a relative to restore the family’s honor. Participating students will receive a complimentary copy of the book. Space is limited. Register online.
