No triple-X for UW-Green Bay


In an effort to avoid any misuse of trademarks, some schools in Wisconsin have locked up web addresses on the new .xxx internet domain. UW-Green Bay is among the institutions buying up “dirty domains” to prevent adult entertainment businesses from co-opting them. The University has purchased uwgb.xxx, greenbayphoenix.xxx, greenbayphoenixteamstore.xxx and jobs4wigrads.xxx to ensure the sites aren’t used for unsavory purposes. UW-Green Bay IT security officer Dave Kieper talked to NBC 26 news about the change, noting it’s better to be proactive than to worry about domains falling into the wrong hands.
