Rodriguez Estrada: Pollen, weather making for nasty allergy season

Alma Rodriguez Estrada, assistant professor in NAS, confirmed what allergy suffers already knew: It’s nasty out there. All the recent wet weather has increased the prevalence of mold, she told the Press-Gazette for a story that ran on Tuesday’s (June 21) front page. Recent high winds and tornadoes haven’t helped any, keeping spores swirling and noses running, she said. “A lot of those allergic reactions, we develop them with age or with over-exposure to these allergens,” Rodriguez Estrada said. “So my concern is that some people that have never had any allergies before might start developing them if these molds and pollens are found in higher concentrations.” Read more.
