Faculty notes: Goff, Meacham, Ranganathan, Zorn
Victoria Goff, associate professor of Information and Computer Sciences, was a presenter at a teaching session, “Pedagogical Approaches to Investigative Reporting,” sponsored by the Newspaper and Media Ethics divisions of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Goff was also attending the annual convention in Denver this August in her role as an officer of AEJMC’s Magazine Division.
Rebecca Meacham, associate professor of Humanistic Studies, has been named fiction editor for Talking Writing, a new monthly, online national magazine that launched this week with its first issue. Meacham’s interview with fiction writer Kelcey Everick Parker also appears in the first issue. At UW-Green Bay, Meacham teaches in the English and Women’s and Gender Studies academic units, directs the creative writing program, and serves as adviser to the Sheepshead Review. For Talking Writing, Meacham will also serve as creative non-fiction editor. Talking Writing features poetry, fiction, reviews, personal essays, visual art, and commentary about writing topics. It also provides space for writers to spread the word about book tours and publishing venues. The first issue can be found online at www.talkingwriting.com.
A study authored by Sampath Ranganathan, an assistant professor of marketing in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business, has been accepted for publication by Production and Inventory Management Journal. The study, “Implementing Quality Management Practices without Sacrificing Employee Satisfaction,” examined whether implementing total quality management (TQM) has an adverse impact on employee satisfaction in an organization. This study also recommends ways in which an organization can implement TQM without having an adverse impact on employee satisfaction. Production and Inventory Management Journal is published by the Association for Operations Management.
Michael Zorn, chair of UW-Green Bay’s chemistry program and associate professor of Natural and Applied Sciences, recently made a presentation at the 240th National meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston. The title of the presentation was: “Effect of Molecular Functionality on the Photocatalytic Oxidation of Gas-Phase Mixtures.” This research is also going to be published in an upcoming 25th Year Photocatalysis Special Issue of the journal Applied Catalysis B: Environmental.
