Exciting news from UW-Green Bay’s Research Council

The UW-Green Bay Research Council is reaching out with exciting news about this year’s internal grant programs. Last year, with one-time funding, the Research Booster Program was able to provide a significant amount of support for faculty Research, Scholarly and Creative Activity. It also highlighted the clear need our UW-Green Bay faculty members have for research support beyond what the Grant in Aid of Research funds can typically provide.

Based on the success of last year’s Research Booster program, the Provost’s Office has generously provided an additional one-time amount of $90,000 for Research Council to propose to run a new grant pilot program. While we have already had one Grant in Aid of Research grant round this fall, this new two-tiered pilot program will also enfold this year’s remaining GIAR funds, which means the Research Council will have approximately $110,000 to distribute for the rest of this academic year. This is in addition to the annual Summer Research Scholar program, which will stay intact this year.

While we hope this new program can demonstrate the real need for additional research support, at minimum, it is envisioned 2023-2024 funding will remain at yearly levels to support GIAR and Research Scholar programs. As the Council works to fine-tune this new pilot program, we wanted to inform you of these upcoming changes, and dates, so you can start planning now.

This pilot program will have two types of calls: a call for presentation of research and a call for project research. If the need for additional research support is manifested through increased applications and a very competitive pilot period, we are hopeful that there is a possibility of this new program continuing beyond this year and we ask for your patience as we finalize details.

Upcoming dates:

January 9th, 2023 Pilot: Presentation of Research

February 6th, 2023 Pilot: Project Research

April 3rd, 2023 Pilot: Presentation of Research

April 10th, 2023 Summer Research Scholar

Please look for more information and the new call for proposals no later than December 1st.
