Title IX then and now—celebrating 50 years of impact
Join the Institute for Women’s Leadership for a special edition of Women Rising: Stories from Experience on Thursday, September 15, 4-7 p.m. at The Weidner, co-sponsored by the UWGB Title IX Committee.
Most people know that Title IX created opportunities for women in college athletics over the past 50 years. But do you know its significance in higher education overall? Title IX not only prompted vast changes in sports programs, but also has led to equality of opportunities in many other ways.
Join us as Abbey Sutherland, Head Coach for Women’s Volleyball, moderates a panel discussion that explores Title IX: where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re going, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX. There is no cost to attend, but we ask that you register.

- Abbey Sutherland, current UW-Green Bay volleyball coach and panel moderator
- Tracy Arndt, community member, national champion women’s swimmer at UW-Madison just before passage of Title IX
- Tiffany Paalman, current UW-Green Bay volleyball team captain
- Christopher Paquet, UW-Green Bay Title IX Coordinator, assistant vice chancellor policy and compliance
- Jeanne Stangel, President/CEO of Curative Connections, UW-Green Bay Women’s Basketball alumna
