Institute for Women’s Leadership announces certificate programs and August networking events
Programs intended to create professional pathways for advancement
Green Bay, Wis.—The mission of UW-Green Bay’s Institute for Women’s Leadership is to advance women by creating pioneering programs that reduce barriers and inspire women to rise to positions of leadership at every stage in their career.
In Fall 2021, the Institute launches the first of three certificate programs. The Advanced Leadership Certificate is developed specifically for women in middle management to director roles, who have some leadership experience but aspire to an executive level.
The program is designed to develop personal strength and authenticity, enabling women to become more impactful and effective leaders. The program runs September 22 through December 1 during six select weeks and consists of online content and one-day in-person sessions. Successful completion earns a digital badge. Valuable content areas include:
- Communication and Building Relationships
- Great Leaders, Great Coaches
- Negotiation and Confidence
- Becoming an Agent of Change
- Strategic Planning for Leaders
Courses are taught by instructors with deep background and experience in leadership and organizational development. Enrollment is open now for women who seek to enhance their leadership skills and progress their professional journey. Learn more and register on the website.
The Institute also creates community by hosting a series of networking events, available to members for free and the general public for a small fee. Upcoming in August are:
- Women Rising: Stories from Experience—a one-hour lunchtime session to hear from a female leader in Wisconsin about her leadership journey, facilitated by lead community partner Bridget O’Connor, O’Connor Connective. August’s “story from experience” will take place on Wednesday, August 12, Noon to 1 p.m., featuring Kristin Jacobs, Executive Director of CASA of Brown County, providing child advocacy for abused and neglected children. - Rising Together: Caffeinated Conversations—a one-hour morning session focused on networking and sharing knowledge around a timely topic. August’s topic will be “Lean In Circles.” The session will take place on Wednesday, August 18, 8 to 9 a.m. More details available online.
- Sharing Knowledge: Business Member Workshops—periodic sessions from business members sharing their unique expertise on topics of value for women managers and entrepreneurs. In August, business member Katie Labedz, President of Learning to Lean, has created a session called “How to Improve Absolutely Anything: Three Easy Continuous Improvement Concepts for Work and Life,” scheduled via Zoom for Thursday, August 26, 12-1 p.m. More details available online.
