Summer rains shouldn’t dull fall colors this year | WLUK
The timing of our first bit of color is pretty consistent year to year, and UW-Green Bay biology professor Karen Stahlheber says that isn’t a coincidence.”The initial signal is always the day length, so that’s why it always happens at around the same time every year. But there are secondary signals of the weather. So things like temperature, and rainfall can definitely affect how quickly it goes and how intense it is,” says Stahlheber. While she says rain is a secondary factor that can lead to dull color, that really only applies once the color starts showing.
