Women in 19th Century Musical Works to be performed tomorrow (Feb. 2)
Women in 19th Century Music, presented by UW-Green Bay Women’s and Gender studies, will be performed on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at 7 p.m. in the Weidner Center’s Fort Howard Hall. Featuring Yoojeong Lee, piano with special guest Marisa Balistreri, soprano, the recital focuses on inspirational women from 19th-century musical works, showcasing characters who were not afraid to live and love fully, take heroic chances and defy traditional gender roles. Works by Bellini, Bizet, Giordano, Puccini, Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky will be performed.
Narration will be provided by Associate Prof. Jessica Van Slooten (English, Women’s and Gender Studies), UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus and UW-Green Bay Women’s and Gender Studies Program Co-Chair.
