UW-Green Bay Music kicks off season Sept. 27 with ‘a very small consortium’
UW-Green Bay Music will present “a very small consortium,” its first concert event of the 2014-15 season, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.
Lowercase by design, “a very small consortium” is a group of UW-Green Bay faculty and friends that specializes in the performance of miniature masterpieces — 100 notes or fewer, or 60 seconds or less in duration. This innovative group sought compositions for performance for the 2014-15 concert season and received submissions from all over the world. These compositions are reviewed to narrow the choices given to the ensemble members. The consortium will present its favorites during the Sept. 27 concert. Admission is free.
“a very small consortium” includes the following UW-Green Bay Music faculty, staff and friends: Kevin Collins, Adam Gaines, Cheryl Grosso, Eric Hansen, Randall Meder, Michelle McQuade Dewhirst, Sarah Meredith Livingston, Michael Rector, John Salerno and Courtney Sherman; Michael Dewhirst, Jessica Jensen, Sam Stranz; Lada Gaines and Steve Johnson.
UW-Green Bay is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
