The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, featuring the State-Bound High School Honor Band, will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 in the Cofrin Family (main) Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

Conducted by UW-Green Bay Associate Prof. Kevin Collins, the concert will include selections from UW-Green Bay’s Symphonic Band. Starting out with “Down a Country Lane” by Aaron Copland (trans. Merlin Patterson), the band will continue with James Bonney’s “Reflections in a Tidal Pool” and Steven Bryant’s “Dusk” before concluding with “Wolf River Sunset” by Jon Harmon.

The Wind Ensemble’s performance will include such pieces as Jack Stamp’s “Fanfare for the Great Hall,” Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Arumque” and Frank Ticheli’s “Angels in the Architecture.” The Wood Family Organ will be featured on “Angels in the Architecture” and an additional song.

In addition to the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble performances, audiences will hear the State-Bound High School Honor Band, consisting of approximately 70 students from a dozen Wisconsin high schools. The students were selected for the band after receiving superior ratings at Wisconsin School Music Association district music festivals.
