Joniaux named Special Assistant to UW-Green Bay Chancellor, Gary L. Miller

GREEN BAY —Ben Joniaux has been named the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s special assistant to Chancellor Gary L. Miller. In this role, Joniaux acts as a senior advisor to the Chancellor and serves as a liaison between the Chancellor’s Office and various constituencies. His primary role is to ensure that the University’s planning efforts, the Chancellor’s priorities and the strategic management initiatives are communicated, well-coordinated and implemented. In addition, he will serve as the University liaison with the various government entities at the UW System, local, state and national levels.

Joniaux comes to UW-Green Bay after having served as chief of staff for State Representative John Macco. He begins his duties and responsibilities at UW-Green Bay on January 16.

“We are extremely pleased to have Ben been join our leadership team,” said Chancellor Miller. “He is a native of this region (Luxemburg-Casco High School graduate) and he brings a unique set of skills that will help us move the transformation of UW-Green Bay forward.”

Joniaux has worked for Macco since January 2015, securing relationships with key business and government leaders and advocating for state funding for the Brown County region. He worked closely with Governor Scott Walker’s office, the Joint Finance Committee and UW-Green Bay to secure funding for the future location of Brown County’s Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Innovation Center, on the UW-Green Bay campus. While working for Macco, he provided strategic leadership in areas of social media and marketing, office systems and policy, and had direct supervision of a full-time employee and a number of interns.

“The direction the University is heading is promising to the entire state,” said Joniaux. “I am excited to work with Chancellor Miller, faculty and staff, and the entire community to continue to grow the University to become a powerhouse of the University of Wisconsin System.”

Joniaux is a 2015 political science graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He maintains close ties to the Northeast Wisconsin region, and is chair of the annual Northbrook Evans Scholar Golf Outing, in Luxemburg, which benefits the Chick Evans Caddy Scholarship, the largest private scholarship in the country.
