Burback honored with Whitney Radder Award
UWGB education major and future teacher Elizabeth Burback was honored by Director of Phuture Phoenix Mary Sue Lavin and Phuture Phoenix Phellow Gabby Ehlke with the Spring 2016 Whitney Radder Phenomenal Role Model Award. The award — honoring former Phuture Phoenix role model Whitney Radder who lost her life in a motor vehicle accident in the spring of 2010 — is given every semester to a Phuture Phoenix role model who exemplifies the expectations of the Phuture Phoenix program. Burback mentors students at West De Pere High School, Phantom Knight Charter School, and West Academy, and was nominated by Ehlke.
“Beth has built a strong relationship with open communication between the students she works with, with her cooperating teachers, and with me,” Ehlke said. “She is open to feedback, she builds fantastic relationships, and she is consistent with her time in the field.” West De Pere educators also praised Burback: “She has a way of presenting herself as to not intrude but come in as a positive and supportive element to the students’ daily activities. She is what the educational field needs today and tomorrow.”
