Kaye reviews new FDR book at Daily Beast

UW-Green Bay Prof. Harvey J. Kaye of Democracy and Justice Studies has a lengthy piece published at the book section of The Daily Beast website. He reviews Stanley Weintraub’s new book, Young Mr. Roosevelt. The biography looks at, among other things, how FDR’s polio and thwarted dream of serving in a Navy uniform primed him to eventually become president. Kaye argues that he was also shaped by earlier events and influences that led him to pursue fairly radical views on social justice and politics. Kaye’s new book, The Fight for the Four Freedoms: What Made FDR and the Greatest Generation Truly Great, is due out in April from Simon and Schuster. Read his Beast piece.
