Perkins family travels to Egypt upon passing of Arda Ishkhanian

As some on campus are aware, artist and teacher Arda Ishkhanian was killed in an auto accident late last week in Cairo, Egypt. She was a popular, longtime painting instructor for UW-Green Bay Outreach and the Summer Art Studio camps program. As the spouse of Steve Perkins, the University’s curator of art, she was known to many on campus and in the local art community. Arda Ishkhanian was in Cairo to finalize affairs related to the passing of both her parents last summer. Of Armenian descent, she was born in Egypt and attended high school in Beirut before immigrating to America in the late 1970s. We are told that Steve and the couple’s daughter Nina left Friday en route to Cairo. It is expected that arrangements, including the possibility of a memorial or gathering here in the Green Bay area, will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, friends within Humanistic Studies are informally extending support to the family at this time of loss.
