John Seager, president of the national advocacy and educational organization Population Connection, will visit UW-Green Bay next Monday (Oct. 29) to speak on “Soaring Past 7 Billion: Population Challenges for a Crowded World.” His free presentation begins at 6 p.m. in the Rose Hall auditorium (Room 250). Since 1968, Population Connection — formerly Zero Population Growth or ZPG — has been a voice for population stabilization, informing constituents across the country about their congressional representatives’ stances on population growth and family planning and working directly with Congress and the Executive Branch to inform policy and funding decisions. Seager has written articles on population stabilization, including its connections to poverty, its future outcomes and the concern about population decline in some highly developed nations. Seager’s campus appearance is organized by the Environmental Management and Business Institute (EMBI).
