Sculptor Lind brings iron casting workshops, and plaza art, to UW-Green Bay
Artist Teresa Lind will be visiting UW-Green Bay several times over the next few weeks to discuss her sculpture and present a series of workshops on iron casting. Workshops are open to students currently enrolled in Sculpture Classes at UWGB, but limited room is available for observers, as well, and the general public is invited to view the final“iron pour.” The workshops will culminate in the creation of a sculpture for the new Student Services/ University Union Plaza.
The Art program provides this tentative schedule:
• Thursday, Oct 18 — artist’s presentation, 5 p.m., Studio Arts 411; Mold Making Workshop (part 1), 6 p.m., SAC 108;
• Thursday, Oct. 25 — Mold Making Workshop (part 2), 5 p.m., SAC 108;
• Thursday, Nov. 1 — Preparing Molds for Casting Workshop, 5 p.m., SAC 108;
• Thursday, Nov. 8 — Preparation for Casting 2 to 4 p.m.; Iron Pour Workshop, 6 p.m., on the Sculpture Plaza [with observation from the pedestrian “bridge” between the Studio Arts Building and Theatre Hall). Nov. 17 will be the rain date for the pour.
Lind received her MFA from UW-Milwaukee, studied in Italy at the Florence Academy of Art, and has participated in a number of residencies and workshops including the Palazzo Rinaldi Artist’s Residency in southern Italy. She works in bronze, iron or aluminum and is known for contemporary exploration of the feminine form, gracefully poised, but armored with steel, wire, and uniforms.
