Doo-Wap-18

A lyrical proposal: She said ‘I will’

The stage was set — UW-Green Bay Music students Kelton Jennings and Laura Cortright performed a medley of songs by the Everly Brothers during the Vocal Jazz Doo-Wop Concert last week. The repertoire started with “Until I Kissed Ya” followed by “Dream.” During the closing moments of the final song, “Let it Be Me,” Kelton got down on one knee and offered Cortright an engagement ring. “It was absolutely perfect, and a complete surprise!,” Cortright said. “Kelton had been planning for months. He had it video recorded (with permission, of course). Both sets of parents were there and we were dressed up. He was so thoughtful.” The music majors who first met at freshmen registration will student teach next semester and will graduate in May 2018. Each has plans to become a music teacher. Cortright is from Pulaski and majoring in both Music and Education, and Jennings is from Poynette. The concert was led by Prof. John Salerno.
