UW-Green Bay student Dorothy Metz highlighted some of the great events that take place on campus with her article for College Magazine. Some of the featured events included Krash the Kress, GB Nites and Late Night Breakfast. Read more.
On Phoenix Friday: deals, discounts and Phoenix vs Marquette
The Phoenix Bookstore will be providing scratch-off cards revealing surprise deals this Friday (Nov. 13). A’viands’ 10 percent discount for wearing Phoenix colors and logos comes to the Garden Café this Friday. Playing at Cheapseats this week is “We are Your Friends,” at 6:30 and 9:05 p.m. This Friday also kicks off another UWGB Nites for students: indoors with the outdoors theme. The University Union hosts the activities including hover ball archery, a log rolling competition, life-sized Angry Birds, bug eating (?), snowshoe races and more. What’s more, real basketball is here. The Green Bay women host Marquette in their first D-I competition of the season, when the archrival Golden Eagles visit the Kress Center for a 7 p.m. tip. Go Green Bay!
Phoenix Friday, and another Bookstore discount
At UW-Green Bay every Friday is Phoenix Friday. This Friday (Sept. 18), the Phoenix Bookstore’s Phoenix Friday special is 20 percent off any and all Under Armour items: apparel, hats, gloves or water bottles. Stop in the store Thursday, and enter a drawing to win a special Under Armour gift package. Drawing will take place Friday at 10 a.m. Aviand’s is honoring a 10% discount at dining locations. Playing at CheapSeats this Friday (admissions only $2) is “Ted 2.” Students will spend a few more hours pretending summer is not over when they take part in UWGB Nites Friday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Union, with the theme, “Life is a beach.” All Green Bay sports teams are on the road this weekend.
Phoenix Friday the start of a busy weekend
Plan now for one of the busiest Phoenix Fridays of the semester. Be part of the excitement of Phoenix basketball with the men’s game at the Resch Center on Friday night. The uncharacteristic 6 pm start time is to accommodate an ESPN 2 broadcast. It is also Menominee Casino Hat Giveaway. Cheap Seats this weekend features “Horrible Bosses II” at the Christie Theatre. The Phoenix Bookstore is offering 20 percent off school supplies on Friday, and A’viands is offering a 10 percent discount to anyone wearing Phoenix gear. Expect action Friday night when “Superheroes” take over the University Union for UWGB Nites. More basketball on Saturday when the Phoenix women host their annual Prevea PinkZone game at the Kress Center at 1 p.m. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN3. Bring the kids in your life to “Sid the Science Kid: Live” at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Weidner Center. Banjo players Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn perform at the Weidner, Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Close-ups: Pow Wow, GBNites, International dinner and more
A cold spring Saturday (April 12, 2014) didn’t prevent hundreds from enjoying or participating in the Annual UWGB Intertribal Student Council Pow Wow: “Honoring Our Veterans.”
The celebration of dance, song, heritage and tradition was just one of the many activities during an event-filled week. Check out the photo gallery, which features a popular performance by “Home Free,” the recent winner of NBC’s “The Sing Off,” (a GTP event) as well as a few campus scenes from the International Dinner, Kress Center and GB Nites.

Close-ups: Night owls lurk at GB Nites
It was peak migration time for night owls Friday, February 17 when UW-Green Bay students were on the move at the University Union. Those active in the student life scene were enjoying GB Nites — a once-per-month, after-hours event designed to enhance the quality of student life on campus during peak student social interaction times (10 p.m. to 1 a.m.). The free event included art activities around the ‘night owl’ theme as well as games, food, a frozen T-shirt contest and comedian Geoff Keith.
