Starting in 2019, students can apply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at UW-Green Bay. The four-year program was accepted by the Board of Regents on Friday and will officially be available in 2020. The program will help to fulfill the state of Wisconsin’s need for healthcare providers with bachelor’s degrees, and complements the University’s existing nursing programs. Dean of the College of Health, Education and Social Welfare, Susan Gallagher-Lepak, said that the decision was applauded by many employers of nurses such as hospitals, insurance companies and public health agencies. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, UW-Green Bay Chancellor’s Chief of Staff Ben Joniaux presented the potential new name: UW-Green Bay – Marinette Campus, to the Marinette County Executive Committee. It will be forwarded to the full county board for final consideration. UW-Green Bay has already received board approval from the counties of Manitowoc and Sheboygan, and needs final approval before the Board of Regents in August. The UW System Board of Regents has approved the proposal to increase state funding for financial aid for students attending UW institutions by $3.25 million.
