Concert is cancelled
NOTICE: The choral concert scheduled for Wednesday evening (Dec. 9) has been cancelled because of the weather. Information on possible rescheduling will be available Thursday.
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 9) in Fort Howard Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
The evening concert will begin with a performance of the UW-Green Bay Chamber Singers led by Dr. Courtney Sherman, assistant professor of voice. The nine-voice women’s ensemble will perform a selection of music in a variety of languages by composers who lived in 16th Century, the present day, and everywhere in between.
The UW-Green Bay Chamber Singers is a small ensemble offered as a course once each school year. Each time the course is offered, a different group of students enrolls, and the combination of voices varies. Most of the music will be unaccompanied, but for the final two pieces, music professors Dr. Michelle McQuade Dewhirst (horn) and Dr. David Severtson (piano) will be featured.
Following a brief pause, the UW-Green Bay Concert Choir will take the stage under the direction of Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Randall Meder, to perform music reflective of the season. There will be two motets from Ha-Shirim Asher li-Shlomo by Salamone Rossi, John Rutter’s Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind and The Heavens are Telling by Josef Haydn.
This is the tenth concert of the 2009-2010 season.
