Jackson appointed to UW-Green Bay Council of Trustees; six Trustees reappointed

GREEN BAY – A University of Wisconsin-Green Bay alumnus who is now president and chief operating officer of the Twin Cities-based Supervalu has been named to the UW-Green Bay Chancellor’s Council of Trustees.

Mike Jackson, a Sturgeon Bay native who grew up in Oconto, is a 1976 graduate of UW-Green Bay with a degree in managerial systems.
Jackson joins the 19-member Council of Trustees, which advises the Chancellor and University and serves as a liaison between UW-Green Bay and the community at large. He will serve a three-year term.

David Ward, UW-Green Bay interim chancellor, said Jackson is an ideal fit for the Council of Trustees.

“I applaud Mike for his willingness to give back to his alma mater through service on the Council of Trustees,” Ward said. “His leadership, success in the business world and fondness for UW-Green Bay and its students will serve us well.”

Jackson joined Supervalu right after he graduated from UW-Green Bay. He has worked his way up through store manager and corporate executive positions. Today, Supervalu operates 2,500 retail outlets, supplies thousands more, employs 200,000 people and does nearly $45 billion in annual business.

In addition to the appointment of Jackson to the Council of Trustees, six Trustees have been reappointed to three-year terms. They are:

— Paul Beideman, president and CEO of Associated Banc-Corp., Green Bay.

— Rick Beverstein, vice president of AON Risk Services, Green Bay.

— Robert DeVos, senior vice president-business development, GENCO Inc., Green Bay.

— Donald Harden, retired president, Bellin Foundation, Green Bay.

— Louis LeCalsey III, president and CEO, Tufco Technologies Inc., Green Bay.

— Virginia Riopelle, civic and community leader, Green Bay.

Ward said he greatly values the leadership, counsel and advocacy provided by the Chancellor’s Council of Trustees.

“The Council provides strong connections between the University and the region it serves,” Ward said. “Their advocacy on behalf of UW-Green Bay is crucial to the University’s success.”
