8th Congressional District debate at UW-Green Bay
GREEN BAY — The Republican and Democratic candidates for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District seat have agreed to debate Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Republican candidate John Gard of Suamico and Democratic incumbent Steve Kagen of Appleton will respond to questions from a panel of state and local journalists. The hour-long debate will begin at 7 p.m. in the Phoenix Rooms of the University Union, 2420 Nicolet Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
Sponsors of the debate include Project VOTE of Brown County, WisPolitics.com, and the UW-Green Bay College Democrats, College Republicans, and Student Government Association.
The race for the 8th Congressional District seat is a rematch of the 2006 contest in which Kagen defeated Gard. Kagen is completing his first term in Congress.
The congressional election is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
