Nick Reckinger Receives UW-Green Bay’s Council of Trustees Community Service Award

Two new members were also welcomed to the Council of Trustees

Green Bay, WI—During the UW-Green Bay fall Council of Trustees reception and dinner, Nick Reckinger, co-head coach of Bay Nordic, was presented with the Community Service Award in recognition of his substantial contributions to communities in Northeast Wisconsin.

The Community Service Award is given to recognize community members who have made significant contributions and have done exceptional community work. The award honors those who have demonstrated outstanding service that has positively impacted our region.

Reckinger’s journey in cross-country skiing began in high school, and his passion for the sport grew stronger. After college, he volunteered as an assistant coach for a local junior cross-country ski team, further fueling his dedication. As the co-head coach of the High School and Middle School program, Reckinger’s exceptional leadership has been instrumental in Bay Nordic’s success. His excellent skills and strong leadership have elevated the team to become one of the premier programs in the state. The team has won multiple state championships, fostered numerous individual medalists, and sent skiers to national competitions. His unwavering commitment to motivating young skiers to hone their abilities, embody sportsmanship, and enjoy the sport has been pivotal in establishing a flourishing competitive program.

Throughout the years, Nick Reckinger has significantly impacted the Bay Nordic community through his exceptional leadership, consistently demonstrating a strong dedication to creating an inclusive and positive environment for young skiers. Remarkable achievements have marked Reckinger’s volunteer coaching journey. He has played a crucial role in the growth and success of Bay Nordic’s Youth Program, extending its influence on over 150 children. His leadership has effectively overseen numerous volunteers, empowering them to deliver enriching and enjoyable experiences for young skiers, an accomplishment in which the entire community can take pride.

Additionally, The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is strategically expanding its council of trustees with the recent appointments of Matt Adamczyk and Patti Habeck. These appointments reflect the university’s commitment to bringing in experienced and visionary leaders who will contribute to its mission and impact.

Matt Adamczyk, ‘22 a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay alumnus, has significantly contributed to the tech industry. His journey includes earning his Executive Impact MBA in 2022 and assuming the Principal Technical Program Manager role at Microsoft within the Strategic Missions and Technologies division. With over a decade of experience at Microsoft, including roles in the Office division, he brings a wealth of knowledge in both technical and leadership capacities. Since 2019, Matt has been an integral part of Titletown Tech, where he plays a crucial role in building and scaling high-growth ventures across Wisconsin and beyond.

Lastly, Patti Habeck is a highly accomplished individual who serves as an executive board member of FaB Wisconsin, a statewide food and beverage industry cluster organization, and on the board for Feeding Wisconsin, the state association of Feeding America food banks. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2024 Women of Influence award, the 2024 Wisconsin Titan 100 award, the Northwestern Mutual Leadership Award at the Donald Driver Foundation’s 2019 Driven to Achieve event, and the ATHENA Leadership Award from the Fox Cities Chamber Pinnacle Awards ceremony.

As the President and CEO of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Patti leads the largest hunger relief organization in the state, overseeing a network of almost four hundred food pantries, meal programs, and hunger relief organizations across thirty-five counties. She is dedicated to addressing complex hunger issues through innovation, collaboration, partnership, and determination, believing that bringing people together can build pathways for shared impact and address community challenges.

Habeck has an extensive background in community engagement and social change. Before joining Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, she served as the community engagement officer at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, where she collaborated with large donors and regional community foundations to drive social change. Prior to that, she was the Director of Education at the Building for Kids Children’s Museum. Patti is enthusiastic about community and collaboration and excels at building relationships to foster positive change. She is known for tackling complex issues and finding innovative solutions.
