UW-Green Bay now home to Green Drinks social gathering
GREEN BAY — If you’ve got a thirst for a greener environment, then you’re welcome at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s first ever “Green Drinks” social gathering.
Common Grounds Coffee House on the UW-Green Bay campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive, is hosting the inaugural event from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.
The event is free and open to anyone with an interest in the environment—from renewable energy and bio-fuels to organic foods and sustainable development.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert, an activist, or someone who uses canvas bags at the grocery store. You’re welcome at this Green Drinks gathering,” said organizer Paul Wozniak, a program associate at UW-Green Bay. “It’s an opportunity to meet new people with common interests, network and make new friends.”
Organizers plan to hold an event at Common Grounds on the first Friday of every month.
Common Grounds will serve its regular menu, and alternative-folk band Far Beyond Frail (www.farbeyondfrail.com) will perform later in the evening.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring any and all unused books for the “free-cycle” book-recycling program.
The event features non-alcoholic drinks and coffees. Children are welcome to come along, too.
This is the second Green Drinks program offered in Green Bay. Downtown’s Kavarna Coffeehouse, on Broadway Street, holds an event the third Thursday of every month.
Green Drinks International is active in more than 400 cities worldwide.
