UW-Green Bay ranks in top tier of ‘U.S. News’ regional universities category

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay once again is ranked in the top tier of the “Best Regional Universities — Midwest” category of the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list, set for release Wednesday (Sept. 12).

In its second year of being ranked in the category, UW-Green Bay jumped 12 spots, from No. 78 last year to No. 66 this year. Prior to 2011, UW-Green Bay generally was listed in the “Best National Liberal Arts Colleges” category, which ranks schools that emphasize undergraduate education. Colleges in the “Best Regional Universities” category offer a full range of undergraduate programs and provide a certain level of graduate education at the master’s level.

“We are proud to be a comprehensive public university with graduate and professional programs, as well as a full complement of liberal arts majors. Our inclusion in this category reflects that,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Tom Harden. “And while we don’t read too much into any ranking, we are pleased to be included in this top tier, several spots higher than we were a year ago. There are great things happening at UW-Green Bay.”
