Registration continues for UW-Green Bay High School Music Camp
Registration remains open for the High School Band, Orchestra and Choral Camp, to be held July 24-29 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive. The camp is open to students entering grades 9 through 12 in fall 2011.
Several camp options are offered for band, orchestra and choir students. Students will participate in full rehearsals, sectionals and a master class. Participants can customize their camp experience by choosing from a variety of classes, including: Camp Chorus, Music Tools, The Total Flutist, World Beat Percussion, Saxophone Studio, Composition, Recording Technology, Heavy Metal (Brass Choir), Northwinds (Clarinet/Double Reed Ensemble), Instrumental Jazz Improvisation, Pop Studio Strings and Musical Theatre.
UW-Green Bay music faculty members, as well as those from other colleges and universities and outstanding music teachers from Wisconsin middle and high schools, will lead the camp. Visit www.uwgbsummercamps.com for information and updates.
All participating students will audition for placement on Sunday afternoon, July 24. Weekday classroom sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. The camp ends with a concert at 6 p.m. Friday, July 29, in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus. Outstanding students will be chosen to receive partial scholarships to the 2012 camp.
Students can attend as commuters or as residents living in UW-Green Bay student housing. The camp fee is $259 for commuters. Resident students pay $495, which includes instruction, room and board, counselor supervision, a T-shirt and transportation to evening activities.
