Lawton Gallery to present second exhibition of graduating seniors’ works
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Lawton Gallery will present its Senior 2 exhibition, the second of two featuring the works of graduating seniors in the Studio Arts and Art and Design programs, from Sunday, May 5 through Thursday, May 16 in Theatre Hall on Campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.
The exhibition will begin with an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 5. During this special event, more than $20,000 in Art Major Merit Scholarships will be announced.
The work of seven UW-Green Bay students will be featured during the show. Their names and a description of their works are as follows:
Kerie Throw will be showing seven large encaustic and mixed media works that are self-portraits dealing with themes such as memory, loss, separation, gender and identity.
Megan Mueller will present photographs that explore the human body as a landscape.
Leah Farley will present a series of photographs, mostly of still lifes of objects that provoke wonder in her.
Sarah Schrader will present digital posters that explore how a person’s choices can affect the lives of those who are close to that individual.
Jessica Schmidt will present photographs and a video exploring her alter-ego persona, Esperanza.
Lauren Sinner will create an installation incorporating cotton fabric and cotton embroidery floss that she has dyed with natural, plant-created dyes.
Spencer Karls will exhibit two sculptures and four panoramic photographs of observational devices that are specifically built to be photographed.
Located in Room 230 of Theatre Hall, the Lawton Gallery is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday during fall and spring semesters. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
