UW-Green Bay’s lecture series features ‘Work Humor Works! Right?’
GREEN BAY — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Downtown Third Thursdays lecture series will feature Prof. Lucy Arendt and her topic, “Work Humor Works! Right?,” a lecture on how organizations tap into the power of humor to enhance creativity, productivity and satisfaction.
The lecture takes place from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Baylake Bank City Center Learning Center, 301 N. Adams, suite 110. The event is free and open to the public.
The lecture will focus on humor in the workplace, including the outcomes of humor – good, bad or neutral – and how it depends on whether the person is in a position of power and the use of positive or negative humor. The goal of this lecture is to give a solid understanding of whether work humor works, and how it can work.
Arendt is an assistant professor in the Professional Programs in Business (Management) at UW-Green Bay. Prof. Arendt conducts research on leaders’ use of humor and followers’ creative performance, psychological stress and goal setting, and top management judgment and decision-making, especially as it relates to hazard mitigation and disaster resilience. The primary setting for her research is the healthcare industry. Her work has been published in numerous professional journals, and her work on hazard mitigation and disaster resilience has been funded by the National Science Foundation.
