UW-Green Bay faculty recital to feature ‘Gypsy Trip’
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay music program will present a faculty recital Saturday, April 2, featuring the group “Gypsy Trip.”
The free recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre inside Theatre Hall, and is open to the public.
The recital will feature a combination of gypsy jazz, early jazz and some original pieces performed by the group “Gypsy Trip.” The group features several UW-Green Bay faculty members including: Prof. Adam Gaines, trumpet; Prof. Eric Hansen, clarinet; Prof. Stefan Hall, guitar. Other musicians in the group are: Nick Winkler, guitar; Mike Fowler, guitar; Michael Dewhirst, bass; Ben Hogan, percussion. Special guest vocalists are UW-Green Bay professors Michelle McQuade Dewhirst and Courtney Sherman.
The concert will include pieces by jazz legends Django Reinhardt, Dizzy Gillespie and Duke Ellington, and original pieces by Prof. Hall.
This is the twenty-sixth concert of the 2010-2011 season.
