Author to speak at UW-Green Bay on history of Mississippi River
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will host author Lee Sandlin on Thursday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the Christie Theatre. Sandlin will read from his new book Wicked River: The Mississippi When it Last Ran Wild.
The book examines the mighty Mississippi of the nineteenth century, before it was dredged into a shipping channel. Sandlin, a journalist and essayist who lives in Chicago, draws upon several firsthand accounts in compiling a narrative history of life along the Mississippi.
The event, which is sponsored by the UW-Green Bay Natural and Applied Sciences and Humanistic Studies academic units, is free and open to the public.
