UW-Green Bay choirs to perform Feb. 25

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir, conducted by Prof. Randall Meder, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 in Cofrin Family Hall of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.

The program, titled “Cultural Voices: Folk Songs and Spirituals,” will feature performances by UW-Green Bay professors Sarah Meredith Livingston, mezzo-soprano, and Courtney Sherman, soprano.

The program will include works by a variety of composers and arrangers, including Béla Bartók, René Clausen, Aaron Copland, William Dawson and Moses Hogan. Each individual ensemble will perform a set of folk songs and spirituals, then all will join together to close the program with “Soon Ah Will Be Done,” written by William Dawson.

Meredith Livingston and Sherman will perform the selections they sang this past weekend on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Live from the Chazen.”

Important note: World-renowned bass-baritone Simon Estes was originally scheduled to be on this program, but his visit has been rescheduled for a later date.

Tickets are $7 for adults or $5 for students and seniors, and are available at the door, or in advance by calling (800) 328-8587 or online at www.uwgb.edu/tickets/.
