‘That Takes Ovaries!’ highlights real-life women as heroes

GREEN BAY — Brazen and gutsy women will be honored by the Office of Student Life at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay during ‘That Takes Ovaries!,’ an interactive theatre piece that focuses on real-life stories from women and the courageous things they have done.

The program is free and open to the public and will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, 7 to 9 p.m. in Phoenix Room B of the University Union, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

The program is based on the book, That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and Their Brazen Acts, a collection of 64 short stories about women’s strength and audacity.

The reader’s theater program will also provide an open-mic session, where women will tell stories from their own lives and the lives of their own “sheroes.”

“This is a celebration of women’s lives,” said Sheila Carter, Student Services program manager for the Office of Student Life. “Audience members will begin to recognize the ‘sheroes’ in their lives and gain a new appreciation for their accomplishments.

“Women will be empowered to share their stories and the stories of other courageous women and through that act, will empower others to be brave and courageous.”
