UW-Green Bay Summer Camps offerings for 2024
UW-Green Bay is celebrating 55 years of offering summer camps & youth programs to our community. With this notable anniversary, there will be a new camp experience for youth interested in leadership, LeadGB: Girls & LeadGB: Boys. These LeadGB camps will empower girls aged 6-14 and boys aged 9-14 to learn leadership skills, health & wellbeing, and become the next leaders of our community. This camp will run for four weeks in summer 2024 at the Green Bay campus.
“For 55 years, UWGB has provided a proud tradition of offering high-quality programming for youth in our community. It would not be possible without the help and support of all those who facilitate our camps; professors, industry experts, notable authors, athletes, academics, coaches, and more!” says Patti Schevers, Education Outreach Executive Manager for Camps & Youth Programs. “These collaborative partnerships truly separate our camps from all other youth programs in the region.”
UWGB camp offerings are in partnership with colleges and departments across campus, including Video Game Programming, Esports, Wizard Academy, Camp Lloyd, Music Camp, Soccer Camp, specialty camps for Oneida Nation youth, and more! Some of these offerings also help showcase different partnerships with groups like Einstein Project, Brown County 4-H, Upward Bound, and GEAR UP. UWGB works with faculty and regional experts to keep young minds and bodies engaged and active each summer. There are over 40+ in-person programs for students entering grades 1-12 and each offering is designed to inspire and enrich the lives of youth in our community. All summer camps are currently open for registration.
Two long-standing camps that will return for summer 2024 include Camp Lloyd and UWGB Music Camp, one of the first and original camps which is celebrating the 55th anniversary at UWGB!
Camp Lloyd, hosting its 18th year of summer programming, is a grief camp started by UWGB Professor Dr. Illene Cupit to support youth who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This camp, open to co-ed youth in grades 2-9, provides a safe haven to understand feelings and emotions associated with loss, mend their broken hearts, and form friendships with peers who are going through similar experiences.
Music Camp is an elite experience geared towards aspiring and talented young musicians. This camp offers four areas of focus including composition, jazz, piano and strings. This is a program for youth, entering grades 8-12, who are looking to take their musical skills to the next level and align with UWGB music faculty, professors and acclaimed musicians.
