Renner sees ‘good fit’ as UW-Green Bay chancellor
The second of four candidates to become UW-Green Bay’s next chancellor said his academic experience and outlook on higher education make him “a good fit” for the position.
Prof. Michael Renner, former provost and vice president for academic affairs for Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, addressed a near-capacity audience of faculty, staff, students and community members this morning (Monday, Dec. 8 ) in the 1965 Room of the University Union.
In his introductory statement, Renner outlined his career path. A professor of psychology, he says he was invited to enter academic administration and accepted because he saw it as a continuation and extension of his service to students. He also touched on issues facing higher education in the 21st century, and responded to questions for about half the 60-minute session.
The third open forum is scheduled for Wednesday (Dec. 10), also at 11 a.m. in the 1965 Room. The candidate will be Thomas K. Harden, president of Clayton State University in Georgia.
UW-Green Bay Prof. Denise Scheberle reminded those attending the forum they are invited to share observations about each session and candidate via at http://www.uwgb.edu/chancellorsearch/. She noted that responses will be accepted until 3 p.m. Friday (Dec. 12).
